I love record labels. I believe knowing how to run a record label and handle artist services has made me a better manager. And I believe being a manager has made me better at running record labels. I had a label-sized hole in my heart when my work with Procrastinate! Music Traitors came to an end, but luckily it has started to fill.
Alternate Side’s work with nothing, nowhere. and Fueled By Ramen lead to myself, Evange, and Elektra Music Group (Elektra, Fueled By Ramen, Roadrunner) starting a new joint-venture together Public Consumption Recording Co. This is a new exercise for us. The goal is for us to find and develop artists like we have through management to develop longterm careers in music. It is early days for us, but we’ll be making our first artist announcements soon. The Elektra folks gave a nice quote about us to Billboard too:
"We are thrilled to be expanding our successful relationship with Evange and Zack," said Gregg Nadel and Mike Easterlin, co-presidents of Elektra Music Group, in a statement. "They are two of the most forward thinking and creative artist managers around. This partnership feels like a natural extension and we look forward to developing the musical output of Public Consumption with them."
It also feels nice to have nothing else new to announce! Except the Hello Donuts storefront, which is coming soon.
Stop me if you’ve heard this before, but I’d like to thank Matt Delisle / Cold Pizza once again for his great branding work.
